I fell in love with cars somewhere around twenty years ago, but that feeling really galvanized about 10 or 15 years ago, and around the time this lady was out there.
I know about the GT3, but...what was the GT2, Oppo?

GT2 is made for guys who has balls bigger than poland. The most powerful GT2, GT2 RS has 612hp twin turbo flat six, and it's RWD, and weighs 1431kg.

Here's how that generation of Porsche stacked up:
Carrera 2 - your standard, purist 911.
Carrera 4 - 4WD
Carrera 4S - sportier 4WD
Carrera Turbo - turbo and 4WD
Carrera GT3 - no turbo, no 4WD, much lightness
Carrera GT2 - twin turbos, no 4WD, much lightness and much abject screams of terror because of the sheer power and balls needed to drive it. Clarkson reviewed it before - it lasted 5 seconds and consisted of a full soundbite of "AAAAAAAAAARRGHHHHHHHHHHHH".

This car is so crazy fast. It's like a cheaper version of the Carrera GT. Except for some reason it's easier to drive than the Carrera GT. Porsche is better at making rear engine cars than mid engine cars, haha

3 intercoolers. german suspension wizardry. side intakes. Fixed spoiler that is functional. 6 holes in the block yet in naturally aspirated and turbo versions they are in the 500HP Club. Did mention the weight? Weight is not heavy or light; its specific and optimal to the Porsche 911 GT2. Even when weight goes up, the car is faster. Did I mention 500HP Club? Yeah not many cars can do that. Not many cars also have to have tires companies redo their compound for a Porsche 911 GT2
The Porsche 911 GT2 is for Nomex babes and guys & girls that have dabbled in Top Fuel funny car, Formula 1, rally, ice racing & top fuel tractor pulls. Only those people have the proper requirements to take on a Porsche 911 GT2 . Yes you say the whole name everytime, no abbreviations.

Sheer numbers. And now the Cayman GT4 is going to aid in making the 911 a moot point. Now I'm just waiting for the Cayman Turbo.

But that's not accurate. If you look at the sheer numbers the 991 GT3 still kills the Cayman GT4. It has the better power to weight ratio.

You're ignoring my point and taking this where I didn't mean it to go. I was just saying it's a superior platform that will slowly grow in popularity because it is essentially a baby supercar with that mid-engine layout. With the growth in popularity Porsche will continue to expand the Cayman line... eventually eclipsing the 911.

Oh don't get me wrong Porsche could make the Cayman platform 10 times better than the 911 platform
They just don't due to the 911's brand appeal
They pushed the engine in the 991 forward to reduce the drawbacks of the 911 vs a mid engine platform and ensured the GT3 had the better power to weight
What I've read is that Porsche will eventually make a longer mid engine car that's not a Cayman or 911
It will be slotted above the 911 GT2 and below the 918
It would have been done already but they dedicated all their engineering resources into the Macan first since it will be a huge profit source
The future car will compete with the Ferrari 488 and McLaren 650S
